What is FBA-Net?
The Faith-based Action Network, or FBA-Net, is a new and growing collective of New Hampshire faith-based organizations endeavoring to advance faith-based partnerships that will serve people in need and strengthen NH communities. There are close to 1,000 faith communities in the Granite State having members willing to volunteer to help neighbors in need. Many already do; more are available if state agencies, as well as community organizations, can learn to "mine" these resources. FBA-Net was formally launched in December 2005. Since then, we have met monthly and helped shaped NH's own "Faith-based Initiative."
We have three priorities we are working to accomplish:
1. To promote faith-based initiatives in New Hampshire and foster collaboration to ensure sustained resources and the sharing of best practices.
2. To assess and report the value of New Hampshire’s faith community.
3. To work with state leaders from the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services, National Guard, Small Business Administration, US Department of Housing and Urban Development, Federal Emergency Management Administration, and Homeland Security and Emergency Management to ensure a coordinated response during disasters and in delivering services that are designed to strengthen families.
Our Vision
We envision New Hampshire having open, dynamic, respectful communication and cooperation within the faith-based community as well as with state government, and other community organizations. Our hope is that the faith-based community will be a valued, and available resource to help people in crisis and need. By doing so, NH communities will be strengthened and better prepared for the future.
Please join us!
Sincerely,
Laura Coleman
